Why the MES diary doesn't work abroad
MES (the Moscow Electronic School) and its services — the electronic diary included — are blocked for foreign IP addresses. It is child-data protection: the education system accepts connections only from Russian addresses.
Parents away for a long stretch, or a child on holiday abroad, hit the same wall: school.mos.ru won't load and the app shows an error.
Why remote access to MES matters
Even far from Moscow, parents need to:
- See grades and track progress
- Check the timetable and homework
- Excuse a child's absence — that is done only through the personal account
- Keep an eye on school meals and entry logs
And a student studying remotely needs to receive assignments and submit work.
How to restore access
A VPN builds an encrypted tunnel through a Russian server — to MES you are "in Moscow", and the site opens without complaint. The mos.ru sign-in (without which there is no way into MES) also works once you have a Russian IP.
VPN Russia supports every mos.ru service — MES and the school portals included:
- High speed for downloading attachments and presentations
- Modern, stable protocols — the mos.ru sign-in completes without errors
Step by step
- Install VPN Russia on a phone or tablet
- Pick the Russia server and connect
- Open the «Дневник МЭШ» app or go to school.mos.ru
- Sign in with your account — everything is back
