Paying taxes — personal income tax, the self-employment tax, property taxes — is an obligation for Russian citizens regardless of where they actually live. Many relocated workers, freelancers and digital nomads keep earning from Russian sources or own property back home.
But opening the taxpayer's account on the FNS website (nalog.gov.ru) or the «Мой налог» app from abroad ends in connection errors or an endless spinner. The services are simply unavailable from foreign IP addresses — a defence against DDoS attacks on government resources.
Why most VPNs no longer help
